Day 1 -With a morning departure from Phoenix, our tour gains 6000 feet in elevation as we climb through the ever changing life zones that line the route to Flagstaff and the nearby Wupatki/Sunset Crater National Monument. This National Monument offers Ancestral Puebloan dwellings dating back to 44 A.D. and are set against the backdrop of the San Francisco Peaks to the South and the Painted Desert to the North. Welcome to the first yoga session of our journey. An after-session lunch at the cameron Trading Post on the Navajo Nation is next, on our way to Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park for a tour and our sunset session. Monument Valley is a spectacular time capsule, a place where the Navajo lifestyle of 100 years ago has changed little. We have found a special site to enjoy the sunset. Dinner and an overnight stay are in Kayenta.
Day 2 -Today begins with a trip through a dramatically sculpted sandstone region to Page and Lake Powell. Our introduction to Page is a private slot canyon called simply Canyon X. This region of Northern Arizona and Southern Utah is riddled with dramatic sandstone canyon systems. Some of these slot canyons are over 100 feet deep, with only 3-4 feet of width at the bottom. We cannot think of a better way to feel at one with planet earth than Canyon X. After a 4-wheel drive approach, we have a short hike to the bottom of this pristine sanctuary of sculpted red sandstone. Following our session in the canyon, your guide will share some of Page's best scenic views and the history of this remote outpost that has become a world famous playground for active outdoor travelers. Our sunset session can take place either overlooking the 186 mile long Lake powell or from a peaceful vista above the Colorado River. Dinner and overnight are in Page.
Day 3 - After a short trip from Page, we will drive to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, to the banks of the Colorado River at Lee's ferry. The ferry site, abandoned in 1928 with the completion of the massive bridge upstream in Page, is the zero mile of the Grand Canyon. All river float trips start here, and this is the site of of today's first session. We will then follow the path of the river and travel south to the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. Your guide will lead you to the best views that the South Rim has to offer. Our sunset session will be along the rim tonight. Dinner and overnight stay in Grand Canyon National Park.
Day 4 - Today we greet the sunrise at the south rim of the Grand Canyon for our morning session. The Grand Canyon is 277 miles long and is 4800 feet deep and 14-17 miles across where we are today. As we say goodbye to the Grand Canyon, we move south to enjoy one of the country's best scenic highways through Oak Creek Canyon, just before our arrival in Sedona. Sedona has become a haven for artists, hikers and spiritual pilgrims from all walks of life. The picture perfect setting at the foot of the Colorado Plateau lends itself to solitude and private outdoor exploration. Our second session of the day will be sunrise from a special overlook. Dinner and overnight stay are in Sedona.
